AGM – Committee for 2026

2026 committee – Andrew Mitchell; Austin Banner; John Davies; Tim Morris; Ian Russell; Will Opie; John Morgan; Ron Kemp (Diana Calvert, Gwen Davies and Lis Woolley were unable to join us).

The South East Centre’s AGM took place in Godstone on Saturday 21st February. It was good to see a number of members in attendance as well as most of the outgoing committee.

The meeting heard reports from all of the committee members about progress in 2025. The Centre is in a sound financial position although there was a deficit due to some capital expenditure. A recent problem with the website was solved by Ben Hill, the originator of the WordPress site and a vote of thanks passed to him. There were questions from the members about events and the secretary raised a concern over the true cost of staging events when organisers often do not claim expenses themselves.

The meeting concluded with a vote for the 2026 committee which remains unchanged from 2025.

Following the meeting we looked forward to events this year particularly MG Fest 26 in August. The Vice-Chair of the MGCC, Michael Murkin, spoke about this event, which the South East Centre is involved in organising.

A new charity for 2026 was announced and will be Pancreatic Cancer UK. A raffle in aid of the new charity was held and £80 raised.
