Road runs have been an essential part of MG life for the whole of the 100 years of MG existence. Today the clubs carry on this tradition with regular scenic runs. These can be to country houses, gardens, railways, museums or simply heading off into the countryside for a pub lunch.
For MG100SE they featured the Centenary Five road runs from around the South East Region on the morning of Saturday 18th May.
The road runs were the second part of a full celebratory weekend after the MG 100 Cavalcade arrived the day before. The MG100 Cavalcade was part of Run 3 from Offham.
The Celebratory Six Road Runs began in the following locations:-
- Run 1 – The Bush Inn, Ovington, New Alresford, Hants SO24 0RE
- Run 2 – The Red Lion, Ashington, West Sussex RH20 3DD
- Run 3 – Spadeworks Garden Centre, Offham, Maidstone, Kent ME19 5NA (including MG100 Cavalcade)
- Run 4 – The Owl, Kingsfold, Horsham, Sussex RH12 3SA
- Run 5 – The Kentish Horse, Mark Beech, Edenbridge, Kent TN8 5NT
All five road runs converged on The Fairmile pub in Cobham, Surrey where the afternoon Summer Party took place.
