This personal recollection is from our Vice-Chairman and North Surrey Natter leader, John Morgan, who attended Audrey’s Remembrance and Thanksgiving service:-
“I first met Audrey and her husband Dennis in the late 1970s at the Natter held at The Leg of Mutton and Cauliflower in Ashtead. This Natter eventually evolved through many pubs to what is now The North Surrey Natter. Dennis and Audrey were very active MG members and were regular supporters of the Natter’s presence at MGCC Silverstone, continental trips, etc. Dennis eventually became my co-Natter Leader from the late 1970s into the 1980s when the meeting moved to the Cock Horse at Headley. Dennis ran a car sales business near Tattenham Corner. He was also involved with Barry Sidery Smith and drove some of Barry’s and his own cars at events such as the Brighton Speed Trials.
Dennis died relatively young from memory, in the late 1990s. His son Steve Whistlecroft is still an MGCC Member and has Dennis’s white MGBGTV8. He is a friend of Heidi Clark, Barry Sidery Smith’s daughter, who owns Barry’s works race car and the MGB Berlinette Jaques Coune Reg No 3500. After Dennis’s death, I carried on with the natter and Peter Arnell became my co-Natter Leader.”
