95th Anniversary Annual Lunch & Awards

Join us for our traditional end-of-year celebration to help wind up another fantastic season with the MG Car Club South East. We are returning to the elegant surroundings of Hartsfield Manor in Betchworth, Surrey for an event in two sections.

Firstly, in the morning, we will enjoy unlimited amounts of tea/coffee and cake prior to the Club’s annual awards and the results of the secretary’s challenge and the raffle (raising funds for our charity of the year – Royal Marsden Cancer Care).

This will be followed by a short break including complimentary drinks before proceeding to the dining room for the Annual Lunch to toast the season past and the 95th Anniversary of the MG Car Club. There will be an unusual monologue performed by member Simon Gray, with piano accompaniment, to begin and then to close we are delighted that former MG Chief Engineer Dr Ian Pogson will join us again for more tales from the back room of MG.

There are two sections. You can choose to attend just the awards or select the full day’s event:

  1. Annual Awards, Secretary’s Challenge, Raffle including unlimited tea/coffee, cake & biscuits: £13pp
  2. Annual Awards, Secretary’s Challenge, Raffle, Complimentary Drink, two/three course lunch, Monologue, Guest Speaker: £53pp two-course lunch  or £60pp three-course lunch

Starters

S1  Treacle glazed venison carpaccio, gin-soaked blackcurrant compote, green peppercorn gf
S2  Wild mushroom & Emmental croquette, mushroom ketchup, truffle cream v
S3  Smoked eel, crispy pancetta, soused crab apple salad, cider vinaigrette g 

Mains

M1  Braised lamb Henry, crushed sweet potato, buttered kale, rich pan gravy gf
M2  Pan fried gilt-head sea bream, braised fennel, potato rÖsti, seaweed butter emulsion
M3  Free range chicken supreme, chestnut & wild mushroom ragout, sautéed new potatoes, port glaze gf

M4  Homemade ricotta gnocchi verde, roasted butternut squash, garlic cream sauce, parmesan v

Desserts

D1  Apple tart tatin, clotted cream ice cream, cinnamon sugar crumb v
D2  Chocolate fondant, rich chocolate sauce v
D3  Lemon, ginger & blackberry posset, finger biscuits v

HOW TO APPLY

  1. Decide which option you are joining us for 
  2. If you are joining us for the lunch please make your menu choices and note the numbers per person
  3. Complete the application form below
  4. Press “Submit and go to the Little Box Office” button at the bottom of the form
  5. If you are paying online complete the Little Box Office payment (preferred method)
  6. If you are paying by other means (Bank Transfer, Cheque) then go no further, you have registered your application! Contact treasurer Ron at [email protected] for details of other payment methods.
  7. We will contact you closer to the date with further confirmation and details.

Secretary’s Challenge

Mr Banner, our secretary, likes to set a challenge for those attending the annual lunch & awards. This year is no exception – please click the button below for details of how to enter.
